Tytuł: Methane dreinage of the goaf in longwalls ventilated by U-type system
This article presents the issue of methane hazard reduction in coal mine longwalls by extracting methane in the end-part of the longwall. It analyzes the distribution of air in a U-type ventilation model of a longwall with a goaf extracted from the direction of the boundary of the mining field (retreating longwall mine). The analysis of the simulation measurements demonstrates that when the shearer is present in the upper end of the longwall, the volume of the outflow of the methane-air mixture from the goaf to the longwall and to the top gate, is significantly higher in comparison with other localisations of the shearer in the longwall. This causes a significant increase of methane concentration in the upper part of the longwall and in the top gate. The paper presents the methane drainage from the goaf involving the suction of methane-air mixture from the goaf area by inserting methane-draining pipes in the goaf. Moreover this article presents the model of the methane drainage installation system and the principle of its operation depending upon the methane concentration in the goaf.
